NFA P-TECH Students Embark on Career Exploration and Skill-Building Trip to IBM Headquarters in New York City
40 NFA P-TECH high school students recently embarked on an enriching field trip to New York City, immersing themselves in experiences designed to broaden their understanding of future career pathways and hone essential skills. The trip featured an insightful visit to the school’s valued industry partner, IBM, followed by an engaging and interactive adventure at SpyScape.
The day began with a comprehensive tour of IBM's facilities in midtown Manhattan. Students had the invaluable opportunity to witness a leading technology company in action, gaining first hand exposure to a professional work environment. Students met with alumni from both NFA P-TECH and Brooklyn P-TECH programs. These former students, now thriving in the workforce, generously shared their personal journeys, offering practical advice and insights into the transition from P-TECH to successful careers. Their experiences provided a tangible link between classroom learning and real-world application, showcasing the power of the P-TECH model in the AV研究所.
Students at NFA P-TECH can earn an Associate's Degree in Cybersecurity through SUNY Orange while in our program. Following the IBM visit, students had the chance to test their skills in the thrilling world of espionage at SpyScape. At this unique interactive museum, students were challenged to test their wits and abilities across a range of spy-themed activities. From code-breaking and deception tests to surveillance challenges and special operations simulations, students engaged in hands-on experiences that fostered critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. The activities at SpyScape are designed to reveal individual strengths and preferences, providing a fun and engaging way for students to discover potential career interests in fields like cybersecurity and data analysis.
This multifaceted field trip provided P-TECH students with a unique blend of professional exposure and interactive learning. We extend our sincere gratitude to IBM for their continued partnership and to the alumni who shared their valuable experiences, empowering the next generation of P-TECH innovators.
