NFA Crew Team Places 2nd as a Team; Medals in Four Races
The Boys & Girls' Varsity Goldbacks Crew Teams successfully competed in the Orange/Ulster County Cup as part of the Championship series of regattas within the Hudson Valley Rowing League. 20 of the team's 45 athletes competed in four of the races, and all four of the boats placed, earning medals. The students rowed a 2,000 meter course on the Rondout Creek starting just after the mouth of the Hudson River out of Kingston. AV研究所 was 2nd overall in points among teams for the Girls and Boys Cups.
The 1st Girls Varsity 4+ consisting of:
Carmen Burgarelli (coxswain), Charlotte "Charlie" Perry (team captain), Sidney Hope, Augustina White & Allie VanDalinda, placed 1st.
The 1st Boys Varsity 4+ consisting of:
Wes Kubin (coxswain), Liam Baxter, Elias Cuellar, Kaleb McNeil (team captain), & Alexander "Pablo" Popllo (team captain), placed 2nd.
The 2nd girls Varsity 4+ consisting of: Carmen Burgarelli (coxswain), Zara Tranquada, Karli Smith (team captain), Lambrini Andrianis & Gabriella Cabrera (the only novice rower and freshman competing in a varsity boat for this event), placed 3rd.
The 2nd boys Varsity 4+ consisting of:
Matthew Barnes (coxswain & team captain), Ismael Chihuahua, Michael Clark, Steven Yang & Gustavo Laureano-Cartagena also placed 3rd.
The NFA Rowing Team is coached by Head Coach Brittany Bonesteel and Assistant Coaches Joseph Roy and Bryana Lebron.
